Ever since Basso started building bikes in 1981, they have been on the forefront of innovative steel designs with a classic appearance. The company was founded by three brothers. Marino was a professional cyclist who won the 1972 world championships and numerous podiums in grand tours. He brought the knowledge about how a bike should feel and his name. Renato was an academic philosopher and became the financial manager of the company. The youngest, Alcide was the one who was most interested in the technical aspects of bike building and set up the initial workshop.
This Basso stems from the 1980s and it has been completely refurbished. What makes it so attractive, apart of the classic Basso details, is the very small size of the frame. It is still designed for standard 28" wheels, but the size 49 will fit even the smallest riders out there.
