On 26th April 2015 Steel Vintage Bikes team visited Luciano Berruti and his family in Cosseria, (Savona - Italy). Probably the most enthusiast bicycle collector, Luciano is first of all a very friendly and hospitable man. We met him at L'Eroica 2014 and since then, a spontaneous friendship has born. We also had the privilege of having Luciano and his son Jacek attending the Steel Vintage Bikes Cafè opening party.
Despite everybody thinks about Luciano as a collector, he raced for fifteen years in competitions and achieved many victories in the Italian championship of MTB and Cyclocross. Cycling is really a life-time passion, which culminated in 2010 when Luciano opened his Museo della Bicicletta in Cosseria, his hometown.
The Golden Age of Cycling has always appealed to him, to such an extent that he started collecting classic bicycles when nobody believed they would have become so popular. And as it happened, the roughly 100 bicycles vintage bicycles he owns are displayed in his museum and Luciano has become L'Eroica face since the yawn of the event. Luciano Berruti maintains that his aim was - and actually is - preserving and honoring the cultural heritage of cycling by sharing his passion for it with other people.
And it really works. During the visit at the museum, Luciano told us many anecdotes about classic cycling, showing us extremely rare bicycles from the 19th century until the 1990s. Some of the highlights are certainly a Peugeot from the 1900s - the bicycle Luciano rides at L'Eroica - and a Gios from 1949 - the first model launched by the Italian manufacturer from Turin.
Here are some impressions of our visit and of the Museo della Bicicletta.
Beside the museum, Luciano and his son Jacek - he rode this year the Vintage Milano-Sanremo with a Bianchi from 1915!!! - has been organizing a cycling event - Museo Tour - for 5 years in Cosseria.
The Museo Tour 2015 takes place on 5thJuly and consists of a 40km route with 400m climbing. Starting line and finish line are in front of the museum.

Steel Vintage Bikes is really proud of being a supporter of the event! A great chance to cycle with Luciano Berruti and other cycling glories, to enjoy the territory and to visit the Museo della Bicicletta!
