Description
Bottecchia is a very traditional company which started as the small cyclery of Carnielli and was improved in 1924 by Ottavio Bottecchia, the first Italian Tour de France winner (1924, 1925). A new company with a new name “Bottecchia” was born after the mysterious and tragic death of Ottavio Bottecchia in 1926.
Bottecchia sponsored teams and riders achieved numerous victories. One of them was team SCIC-Bottecchia and in the late 70s, it was one of the leading forces in the pro peloton. And it was no wonder with riders like Baronchelli, Paolini and above all Saronni. For the 1979 season, the team asked one of the best framebuilders of the generation to build the bikes. It was Umberto Marnati, a former mechanic of Fausto Coppi and one of the most skilled persons with a torch. Our Bottecchia is one of these exquisite bikes for 1979 season. Marnati's footprints are obvious - from the signature lug cutouts to other details like the two large holes in the bottom bracket.
In the past, the bike was for some obscure reason repainted in glossy black paint and we decided to give it its original flat black paint.
It is equipped with Campagnolo Super Record parts, Cinelli cockpit, Contour saddle and Ambrosio rims with Bottecchia label. And as a small extra, you will get the Bottecchia frame pump on top.
This bike is a piece of cycling history and a great opportunity to enrich you classic bicycle collection. And certainly not just for
Here we present you one of the glorious racing machines. In the late 70s,
