Bottecchia is a very traditional company which started as the small cyclery of Carnielli and was improved in 1924 by Ottavio Bottecchia, the first Italian Tour de France winner (1924, 1925). A new company with a new name “Bottecchia” was born after the mysterious and tragic death of Ottavio Bottecchia in 1926.
The bicycles they produced were high end pieces which carried numerous champions to victory.
Many might still remember how Greg Lemond won his 1989 Tour de France on a Bottecchia.
The bike we present here is pretty stems from the 1980s and its frame is made of light yet strong Columbus tubes. Typical for high-end Bottecchia bikes of this era are the beautifully made lugs which are chromed on top. In particular, the precisely crafted seat stays are a thing of beauty.
The equipment is equally fine as the frame itself. It is nothing less than perhaps one of the most pretty groupset of all time - Campagnolo C-Record. In this case there are also quite rare Campagnolo Cobalto brakes with matching brake levers. Worth mentioning surely is the fine wheelset with FIR Quasar rims in NOS condition.

A captivating bike which is as good to ride as it is to look at.

Condition Used
The bicycle is in good condition. The frame has no cracks, no dents and is not bent. The paintwork has been professionally refurbished and is thus in top shape. All parts have been checked and are working fine. The bicycle went through a full checkup at Steel Vintage Bikes workshop! All parts were disassembled, cleaned and re-assembled again. The frame was checked for structural integrity and all wearing parts were replaced with new ones. You can expect the bicycle in fantastic riding condition and ready to go for your vintage bike ride.
