Champion du Monde Sweater Cycling Sweater

The Champion du Monde Sweater from Le Patron is a jumper for champions. The coloured pattern in the colours of the rainbow jersey on the sleeves is a reminder of this.

 

There are people who believe that the rainbow jersey is cursed and are convinced that the wearer will never win. But this is nonsense! The very first rider, Alfred Binda was able to prove the opposite in this beautiful jersey in 1927. He won so many times that the organisers of the Giro were afraid that the winner would be fixed in advance when Alfred started. They offered him money so that he would not start. The amount of 22,000 lira - an immense sum at the time - ensured that Binda did not take part.
