Cinelli Speciale Corsa Classic Road Bike 1963

This Cinelli Super Corsa from the year 1963 is a rare and extremely well preserved piece of cycling history. Since it entered the market the Modello S.C. or Speciale Corsa, which was later on called Super Corsa, has been one of the most elegant and competitive bikes available. Through the decades it has changed in small details and is even today still available. Its elegance and performance are legendary and make it one of the most wanted road bike models. Collectors around the globe are trying to get hold of nice old Cinelli Super Corsa bikes and even more cyclists are wishing they had one.
And here it is, a sensational black beauty. The chrome is still very good, the paintwork with almost no traces of all the years, the original decals immaculate. The frame shows one speciality: it is a custom work, designed for a large rider. It is not easy to find old frames with such a size. Unlike most frames from its time, the dropouts do not have eyelets for mudguards and the brake bridges are rather low, resulting in a higher stiffness. A nice small detail of the typical old designs remained: the oiler hole and the drain hole in the 74mm bottom bracket shell.
As for the components, there is a choice of the highest quality. The shifting, the hubs and the pedals are from the very first Campagnolo Record series. Those hubs without the actual 'Record' engraving are rather rare. Just as the Crankset is, a five pin design with a six armed spider designed by Magistroni for Cinelli as a road bike modification of their track crank. The headset and bottom bracket are Magistroni too. The special patented Nitor Seatpost, the most expensive seatpost back in the day, comes from the inventor of the Unicanitor Saddle and carries a nice Brooks Professional. Everything is stopped safely by a reliable set of Universal brakes and brake levers.
But enough of the components. Like often in life, this bike is much more than just the sum of all individual parts. As a whole it is a rare and very special legend that you will hardly find a second time anywhere.
