Beschreibung

Viner is a bicycle brand founded by VIviano NERozzi in 1947 in Pistoia, close to Florence (Italy). In the 1960s they started to sponsor teams and became pretty successful. In the 1970s a Dutch Team became world champions on Viner bikes. In the 1990s then, Viner was technical sponsor of such illustrious teams as Mapei.

And this Viner Special Professional has racing background as well. As far as we know, this bicycle belonged to a Swedish rider who raced for a team sponsored by Peugeot. For some reason, the provided equipment didn't fit the bill and he decided for this Viner Special Professional instead and stick the Peugeot decals in it. If he did fulfilled the sponsor's expectations, we will probably never know.

What is a sure fact though is that this bike is a true gem. The frame has been made of the lightest Columbus tubing designed for a road bike at the time - Columbus KL - and the whole frame is beautifully made. There are many fine details known from other Viners and the unusual fully chromed stays and of course the fork. Keeping the feather light tubest in mind, it is no surprise, that even though some components could be significantly lighter, this bike weights just 8,8 kg.

As a true racing bike, it is equipped with the competition groupset of choice - Campagnolo Super Record with Mavic rims, Concor Supercorsa saddle and Cinelli cockpit. It' true party piece of the condition though. The whole bike, both frame and parts, are very well preserved.

A great chance to own a true racing bike which will ride like a wind even after almost four decades.
