Description:

When it comes to classic cycling, there are a few things which appeal to collectors around the globe as much as the Molteni Team livery does. Its unmistakable orange colours and the countless victories achieved by the great Eddy Merckx between 1971 and 1976 made it simply an icon, a symbol of professional racing.
Fair enough saying that a Molteni bicycle is a must-have for many collectors.

Besides Colnago and De Rosa, early Molteni Team frames bearing the Eddy Merckx logo were manufactured by Kessels, a Belgian manufacturer who also produced Eddy Merckx bicycles until Eddy started to set up his own production.

So some of the first bikes which had the honour to bear the Eddy Merckx logo, were the Eddy Merckx Kessels bikes in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Nobody less than the Champion himself rode them.
Unfortunately Kessels fell into oblivion and many people forgot about the professional bikes they once assembled.

Our Kessels Molteni Ladies Bike is one of their great machines which were built to a standard that was up there with most professional level bikes of its time.
The frame is an elegant Anglais design, built with Reynolds 531 tubing. Though Kessels frames often used those butted tubes just on some of the main tubes and stronger stuff for the stays.
The bike is equipped with a nice Campagnolo Nuovo Record groupset.

This machine is extremely rare, it is really hard to find one of these Kessels made Eddy Merckx ladies bikes and, considering its age, it is in nice condition, too!

A ladies racer like this would also be perfect for any historic cycling event.
