Description

STELio BELletti was without a doubt one of the most creative and skilled Italian frame builders of the 1970s and 1980s
Belletti was actually one of the first manufacturers who pioneered the process of TiG welding (Tungsten Inert Gas) for bicycle frame building (he learnt it from his father Antenore, a planes fuselages welder). And he was the first frame builder to master this technique to a degree that is still exemplary today.

Here we present you a rare Stelbel Master Light which dates back to dates back to about 1977 and is made of Columbus tubes, specifically designed and made for Stelio Belletti. The lugless frame is a true craftsmanship masterpiece, as well as the unique fork with the iconic Stelbel crown. The top tube is slightly oversized and it is fitted with vertical Shimano SFR dropouts, quite unusual detail for an Italian frame of that time.

Our Stelbel still sports the original green paintjob and the downtube decal, which appeared in this graphic design for a short time in the late 70s.

This classic bicycle is furthermore equipped with Campagnolo Nuovo Record parts which also apppear to be original and are stamped as manufacuring year 77.

Stelio Belletti is said to have manufactured roughly 1000 frames. Therefore each Stelbel bicycle is like a piece of art. These bikes reached a cult status especially among Italian collectors. They can rightfully be called iconic.
And in its current state or restored, our masterpiece will be a nice addition to any collection!
