Gitane - a name which means 'Gypsy lady' in French - is a brand which was synonymous with French bicycle racing from the 1960s through the mid-1980s, sponsoring riders such as Jacques Anquetil, Lucien Van Impe, Bernard Hinault (1975–1983), Laurent Fignon, and Greg LeMond.
In the Tour de France, Gitane was the most successful bike brand regarding the general classification. (That was until team Sky started to dominate with Pinarello in recent years.) Three world championships and two world hour records add to their palmarès.

In the second half of the 1970s Gitane equipped their top model, the Olympic with Campagnolo dropouts and a Campagnolo Record groupset. Italian cycling tech began to dominate the races. Campagnolo was en-vogue and also the co-sponsor of the Gitane cycling team.

Not many of these 'haut de gamme' bikes were built and they were comparably pricy, thus they are not that often to be found.
And here we present one of those sweet pieces, a Gitane Olympic Record from 1977.
It still runs smoothly, safely and fast.
The frame from Reynolds 531 tubes offers plenty of agility and the Campagnolo Nuovo Record groupset adds flawless functionality.

This bike is exactly what you are looking for if a reliable ride of steel is needed in partly rough conditions. You could even fit a pair of mudguards to it if you wanted to stay dry in the rain.
A bike for weekends and everyday-rides alike.
