Description
Gianni Motta bikes are always something special and attention-drawing.
When Gianni Motta, the famous cycling champion, ended his successful career, he turned to building top class bicycles that lived up to their name. These bicycles are famous for their elegance, stiffness and efficient power transmission. Motta's top notch frames famously were named the Personal. The bike we present here is one of Motta's great models - and it is one of the more advanced pieces.
Let us first talk about the frame. The Gianni Motta Personal 2001R which you can see here, belongs to the most advanced lugged frames of the 1980s which excels in stiffness and utter beauty. The rear dropouts were soldered over the rear stays instead of into them and the seat stays had been curved in the way typical for these models. A bike which is an example of the excellent bike building skills of the 1980s. The frame itself is made of Columbus SLX tubes, choice of many professional teams back in the day.
As for the parts, you can find Shimano Dura-Ace 7400 series groupset - racing level parts which run like a clockwork and are famous for their durability as well.
I wouldn't be a propper 80s Gianni Motta without a special paintjob and boy this has one. On the dark background there are subtle brush strokes in various colours made by hand. Simply stunning!
