The brand Rauler was founded by the brothers Raul and Reclus Gozzi in the 1970s.Its name Rauler is a mix of Raul's forename and the first letter of Reclus (Raul e Reclus)The brothers were originally contracted by Colnago to build frames under Ernesto’s marque until they parted ways in 1984. In fact they were also responsible for Colnago’s pantography and manufactured the intricate lugs for the Colnago Arabesque models. But their own bikes as well are really well built pieces of classic Italian craftsmanship. Our Rauler Perstige is made of high-end Columbus EL tubes, the racing level tubeset with was very light (EL or "extraleggeri" means extra light after all) yet strong. The frame is beautifully made with meticulous attention to detail. You can see it on the precisely cutout lugs, the brake bridge or the lugged seat stay caps. In the late 80s, it would be certainly considered as an "aero" bike. The shifters are positioned on to of the down tube and the cables disappear into the frame immediately below them. They then surface near the front and then rear derailleur. For the rear brake cable, Rauler used the same routing inside the frame.
Such a elaborate frame deserves just the best components. And it's equipped with nothing less than the Campagnolo C-Record groupset with the iconic Delta brakes. The pantographed stem or the new Tufo handmade tires are just the cherries on the top.A truly prestigious bike which combines the best tubeset, best parts and indeed the typical Italian 80s paintjob.
