In 1946, Gaston Lapierre started a small bicycle shop in Dijon, France in the beautiful region of Burgundy. From the start, Lapierre produced also road bikes, which were not as well known as some bog names on the French market. In 1972 a new and bigger factory was constructed on the outskirts of Dijon in order to meet higher demand and to be able to grow. When bikes made of new materials like aluminium came along, Lapierre wanted to enlarge it's offer and the best way to do so was to outsource them.
And the obvious choice was the French made Vitus. Vitus already gained popularity and reputation for being light yet reliable. This Vitus frame is made of of Duralinox aluminum-magnesium alloy tubes which are glued in aluminium lugs. Its geometry is steeper than most frames of the time, though the construction is not as stiff. It is not the best frame for sprinting, but extremely comfortable and forgiving.
This one has the main tubes anodized in nice purple color and it's equipped with realiable and well preforming Shimano RX-100 groupset.
This bike has been checked, serviced and when needed, parts have been replaced for new ones.
