There are certainly better known brands to a broad public than Wilier. But when you will see one, you will know it. Partly because of the iconic fiery "Ramata" cromovelato paintjob, but also due to sheer beauty of these frames. There is no wonder, that vintage Wiliers are sought after and treasured by collectors all over the world.
This Wilier is even more intriguing though. It is a rare Wilier Triestina Cronometro time trial bike. Only a handful was made and the master frame builders in he Rossano Veneto factory made sure, that they were meticulously done. In fact, almost all parts of the frame has been somehow modified in order to ride better and be more special too.
As the engravings on the seat stays suggest, the tubes have been supplied by Oria and assembled in an aggressive geometry for races against the clock. With a smaller 26" front wheel, internally routed cables, shifters positioned inside the main triangle and the beautiful Columbus Air fork, it should have sliced through the air like a knife. The top and seat tubes have been bent and also crimped in short segments. Another refined detail are the diamante chain stays.
And the equipment has been chosen for the time trialing too. You will find the top level C-Record with Delta brakes and other fine Campagnolo parts. The cockpit consists of Cinelli stem and Cinelli L.A.84 bullhorn bars and the C-Record hubs have been freshly laced with NOS Wolber rims.
An opportunity to own a rare racing machine like this doesn't happen every day. Simple mesmerizing.
