Description

Peugeot was one of those early bicycle manufacturers which grew big and succsessful during the 20th century. Their first bike was already built around 1882. But their reputation grew mainly due to their racing activities. Peugeot sponsored racing squads and cyclists from 1903 until 1983.
In this time they managed to win the tour de france 10 times and numerous championships, classics and one day races. Who has not seen the pictures of Tom Simpson and Eddy Merckx, winning the World Championships 1965 and 1967 on a Peugeot PX 10?
And here we have one of those successful bikes a Peugeot PX 10 from 1967. And it is pretty special, too.
The tubes are Reynolds 531 butted tubes and the lugs are beautiful Nervex Professional ones. As for the parts - there have been some changes to the usual setup. Instead of a Simplex shifting, we find a then new Campagnolo Nuovo Record one with the rare 1st generation Nuovo Record rear deraillieur! Quite an upgrade. As is the 3ttt stem and the Campagnolo Nuovo Record chainset and bottom bracket. And there is a pair of Campagnolo Record hubs on top.
Somewhere in 1967 someone has had a PX 10 with a serious tuning to it. It is very likely that this bike was used in professional or semi-professional racing.
The condition of this Peugeot PX 10 makes it both suitable for riding it in vintage cycling events as well as enriching a collection. This bike is really incredibly well preserved and would be a perfect ride for historic races. If you are searching for an Eroica bike, this one might be just the ticket.
