Description

Sante Pogliaghi is undoubtedly one of the best Italian frame builders of the post Second World War times and many champions such as Eddy Merckx and countless others rode with his frames. It is no surprise, that his bikes are highly praized and sought after.

And here we have a rather special one which bares the Pogliaghi name. Being a fast randonneur bike it is quite different to the road or indeed track frames we are familiar with and it is possible that it has been made by another builder under contract for Sante Pogliaghi. The truth remains, that we cannot be sure who it actually was, but the quality of the frame is obvious and it also shares a typical Pogliaghi detail of a serial number stamped on the left side of the seat lug.

The equipment is equally interesting and nothing you would find on every other bike. It is fitted with a groupset composed of high quality golden anodized parts from French brands like Simplex, Stronglight or Mafac, which match the original beige paintjob perfectly. Throw the elegant stainless steel mudguards, Cinelli saddle and cockpit or the high-flange Somedec hubs it and the result is truly stunning. The Martano rims are also very fine and usually found on the bikes of the highest grade.

A perfect bike for long rides in style where no rain will catch you off guard.
