Description

Founded in 1914 in Neuchatel, Switzerland by Arnold Grandjean, Establissments Allegro gained a reputation for being one of the premier manufactures of racing bicycles in Switzerland. They won many championships so they really knew how to construct a good bike
This rare Allegro road bike from 1973 is a nice piece of Swiss accuracy when in comes to building road racers. Not only swiss parts were used but those that were considered the best by Allegro. They could pick easily from the countries around. Switzerland delivered the Weinmann braking and the Titan lightweight seatpost. France the Mavic Rims and the Stronglight bearings and cranks. Italy brought the Campagnolo hubs, shifting and Pedals and the Cinelli cockpit.
As for the frame they picked the good old faithful Reynolds 531 tubes which were jointed with Bocama (BCM) lugs. An absolute highlight is the shimmering paintwork with the outlined lugs.
Alltogether a bike was formed that not only was a sound piece of craftmanship but also a highly competitive lightweight racer. A really excellent roadbike.
The Allegro is suitable for nice sunday rides as well as historic races like L'Eroica.
