Description
Atala Classic Bicycle from the mid 1980s.
Atala is an Italian famous manufacturer founded back in 1907. In its fruitful history the Atala company manufactured some great classic road bicycles and our exemplar is certainly one of them.
The frame is built from exquisite Columbus SLX tubes and has been designed for professional racing, as the inner spirals for an increased rigidity show. This frame was manufactured by Atala to special order (and might even have a background as a pro training bicycle), hence the frame geometry specs with a short top tube engraved on the bottom bracket.
Although the frame is certainly the highlight, it is not the only worthwhile feature: the bicycle is furthermore equipped with the best you could get back in those days - a Campagnolo Super Record group set of the last generation.
Atala had a successful racing team continuously from 1908 to 1990! So the top models were pretty competitive. The time that gave forth to our beautiful Atala Professionisti was also the time of Team Atala's Urs Freuler who won no less than 10 track world championships in the 1980s.What was good enough for Freuler certainly is a great classic bicycle for participating in L'Eroica!
