Atala is an Italian famous manufacturer founded back in 1907. In its fruitful history the Atala company manufactured some great classic road bicycles and our exemplar is certainly one of them.

The frame is built from exquisite strong Columbus SLX tubes and has been designed for professional racing as the name implies. SLX was the state-of-the-art tubing of the second half of the 1980s. The double butted structure with inner helical reinforcements was to be found on almost every bike in the pro peloton.

Although the frame is certainly the highlight, it is not the only worthwhile feature: the bicycle is furthermore equipped with the nicest parts you could get back in those days - a Campagnolo C-record groupset of the second generation. This groupset famously featured one of the most iconic piece of bike componentry of all time: The beautiful Delta brakes.

Atala had a successfully started sponsoring racing teams as early as 1908 and stopped only in 1990! So the top models of this traditional brand were pretty competitive as they were also used in the tough pro races.
The decade that gave forth to our beautiful Atala Professionisti was a time of great success for the Team with numerous world championships, Italian championships and stage victories in the grand tours.

What was good enough for the team, certainly is a great classic bicycle for you. Participating in L'Eroica California would be possible as well, and by switching the cable routing, the bike becomes even Eroica Gaiole eligible!
