Description
Atala is a famous Italian manufacturer founded back in 1907. In its fruitful history the Atala company manufactured many great classic road bicycles and our exemplar certainly is one of them.
The frame has been formed using double butted Columbus tubing and has been designed for professional time trials.
Atala had successfully started sponsoring racing teams as early as 1908 and stopped only in 1990!
So the top models of this traditional brand were pretty competitive as they had to cope with the conditions of tough pro racing.
The decade that gave forth to our beautiful Atala Professionisti was a time of great success for the Team with numerous world championships, Italian championships and stage victories in the grand tours. In the season of '89 for which our bike was made, the Italian champion rode for the Team Atala Campagnolo as well as the up and rising future super star Gianni Bugno
BAck to the bike: the low profile frameset is an obvious highlight yet not the only feature worthwhile mentioning: the bicycle is equipped with the nicest parts you could get back in those days - a Campagnolo C-record groupset of the second generation. This groupset famously featured one of the most iconic piece of bike componentry of all time: The beautiful Delta brakes. And then there is the Ambrosio disc wheel - an ubiquitous component on professional Italian Crono bikes.
What was good enough for the team, certainly is a great classic bicycle for you.
