Description
Ever since Basso started building bikes in 1981, they have been on the forefront of innovative steel designs with a classic appearance.
The company was founded by three brothers. Marino was a professional cyclist who won the 1972 world championships and numerous podiums in grand tours. He brought the knowledge about how a bike should feel and his name. Renato was an academic philosopher and became the financial manager of the company. The youngest, Alcide was the one who was most interested in the technical aspects of bike building and set up the initial workshop.
And here we present you a rather rare Basso Crono classic steel time trial bike. It stems from the 1980s and it's clear from the first glance, that this frame is special. It features an agressive geometry with a sloping top-tube and a curved seat tube. The low front of the bike accepts a 650C wheel.
The tubes themselves are from Oria ML25 cr-mo tubes, which are connected the traditional way with chromed lugs. There was no other choice of equipment for this Italian machine than a period correct Campagnolo groupset. Apart of the Campagnolo Chrous 1st gen. gruppo, you will find the race proven Mavic 355 'bullhorn' or Selle Italia Turbomatic saddle.
A stunning Italian machine suitable for fast rides. Completely checked in our workshop, it is ready to go.
