Bauer Super Sport Classic Randonneur Bicycle 1950s

Founded as Bicycle and Metal Works L. Bauer & Co in 1911 in Frankfurt, Germany, Bauer started a major engagement in the production of bicycles and motorcycles from 1914 on. They remained in this business until they eventually had to shut down their facilities in 1968. They supported a racing team and single riders well into the 1950s. Their most famous success were the UCI world championships in 1952. Two of their riders made it to the podium, with Heinz Müller and Ludwig Hörmann coming in first and third.
In the following years, the Bauer Weltmeister (the German for "world champion) was the top model of this German brand until the late 1960s. Many young racers in Germany longed to own a Bauer bike.

But not only racing bikes were made by them, they also produced a wide range of sports touring bikes - As our Bauer Super Sport Classic Randonneur from the 1950s proves! Despite its age, this Bauer Weltmeister is still in great and original condition which is very rare! This bicycle is really unique and its patina - typical of very old frames - makes it even more charming. The lugged steel frame shows a typical long touring geometry and is equipped with some top of the line high-end parts of the era, such as the Huret gearing, Weinmann brakes and the renown Simplex Crankset.
