Description
Founded in 1931 in Turin (Italy), Benotto is one of the most winning cycling brands of all time. Although they moved in 1953 their factory to Mexico, the professional racing bicycles have been always manufactured in Italy, like the bicycles they provided the Team Filotex in 1973 with.
And this Benotto 3000 is an actual racing bicycle from the 1973 Filotex Team indeed. At a first glimpse, you can notice the stem with Filotex engravings. By taking a closer look at the fork crown, you can actually see an unmistakable mark of the provenience of this bicycle.
Unlike mass-produced Benotto 3000's, Filotex Team bikes were produced in 1973 by Pelà - a very skilled and renowned frame builder from Turin (starting from 1974, Filotex bikes would be built by Ugo de Rosa). Pelà imprint is the typical "line-dot-line" style of the fork crown, a detail you will find on many of his works. The BB shell also presents a lightening you will also find on other Pelà's frames, as well as the precisely filled seat stays.
This Benotto 3000 Filotex arrived at Steel Vintage Bikes in original condition from Turin and - of course - we kept it as authentic as it was. Re the components, it is equipped with a Campagnolo Nuovo Record groupset from 1973.
Needless to say that this bicycle is a unique piece. For collectors and true enthusiasts.
