Description
This excellent and rare Bergamin from the 1960s is certainly a catch for any collector. This refurbished bike was one of two the exemplars that a collector bought from Danilo Bergamin, the founder of the Brand Bergamin.
Built by Pelà, one of most representative frame builders of Turin, our bike is a typical roadbike which like many of its time has been equipped with mud guards to make racing and training in the rain or winter season easier. Back in the days it was not really considered an option to ride just on sunny days. And with loads of roads being 'strade bianche' or other types of of gravel and mud, a fender was a real win. As an extra our rear mud guard has leashes for the attachment of small belongings, tools or a spare tire.
The components on this bike are the best you could get in the mid 1960s. A large share consists of the then newly introduced Campagnolo Record group, including the 1st generation hubs without 'Record' lettering . Since Campagnolo did not produce brakes at that time, Danilo Bergamin took just the best he could get. That is a set of Universal Mod.61 center-pull brakes with corresponding levers. These brakes are working surprisingly fine!
If you are looking for a very rare collectible bike with a nice pedigree or are thinking about a participation in L'Eroica, La Superba or something alike, this is the perfect bike.
