Description

Many of us are familiar with the history of Bianchi as the oldest Italian bicycle brand which is still in production. Some might even own a celeste-coloured racing steed.
But not as well known are the excursions Bianchi made into the world of motorized bikes.
Like many other bicycle producers, the company from Milan transferred their knowledge of how a two-wheeled vehicle works to the world of motor bikes.
We are happy to present to you one of the outcomes: a Bianchi Auquilotto Motor-Bicycle from 1953.

The 'little eagle' does not deny that it is rooted in the cycling world. Take away motor and tank and you will find a fully functional, though rather heavy, cruiser bicycle. There even is a rear rack and an air pump and the handlebar looks like the big brother of the ones you can find on classic Condorino city bikes.
Another bicycle related feature is the drivetrain. The motor can be started by pedaling but you could as well switch the motor off and just ride on.
Our frame is basically a very strong lugged mixte construction. Also the headset is the elegant integrated version we see on Bianchi road bikes of the same age. The fork is equipped with a swing suspension and has a typical 1950s design which is continued by the large mudguards. In the capsuled container under the comfy saddle you find the technical paperwork.

Talking about technical details: the 45ccm two-stroke motor is running on a 20:1 mixture, giving you that typical nostalgic smell which catapults you back into a bygone era: a turn on the gas lever, lower the motor roller onto the rear tire, a kick in the pedals and the motor of this time machine starts instantly.
Everything on the Aquilotto has been checked and is working fine, from the motor, to the lights and the drum brakes. Even the buzzer is working excellently.
