Description

Bianchi is one of the oldest bicycle brands in the world, manufacturing high-quality performance bikes from as early as the 1890s. In 1885, when he was 21 years old, Edoardo Bianchi started manufacturing bikes in his shop in Milan, Italy. Edoardo had previous experience hand-making medical tools, so he had an acute understanding of how to manufacture precise instruments; a skill that translated into meticulously crafted bicycles.

During the golden age of cycling Bianchi sponsored Teams which rode to great victories on their celeste coloured bikes

This bicycle is kind of an interesting piece in the way that it is hard to determine from which year exactly it is and which model it represents. The reason is that there is no frame number to be found and a chain oiler and a set of front mudguard bosses might have been removed pretty early on.
Some of the lugs are pointing into the 1920s era while the headlugs are really rare. You can find them on a picture of young racer Alfredo Bovet from the early 1930s though.
This model has been built with fine parts, like the rear hub which allowed shifting, original Bianchi components and great tubular wooden rims.

The frame is a special piece of industrial sports bike design and exhibits the skills of Bianchi's frame-builders during this era. Details like the lugs and the integrated headset illustrate the excellent work done in the Milan factory. The paintwork sure wears its patina with pride, it looks stunning.

If you are looking for a particularly special bicycle to add to your collection, look no further. Our oldest Bianchi so far. A racing bicycle with pedigree.
