Description
When it comes to the golden age of cycling, the Bianchi Folgore is undoubtedly one of the most icon racing bicycles ever manufactured. Indissolubly connected with the epic victories of Fausto Coppi at the 1946 Milano-Sanremo and at the 1947 Giro d'Italia, the Folgore appeared in the Bianchi catalogue between 1940 and 1949, until the Bianchi Folgorissima was subsequently introduced – this differs basically for a seat lug with clamping on the back side.
Designed and manufactured for serious competition, the Bianchi Folgore is a lightweight frameset – roughly 10.6kg with pedals – and illustrates particularly refined details like the headtube with integrated headset (common to all Bianchi racing bikes of that era), chromed lugs and fork crown, seat-tube mounted chain oiler and bottom bracket with integrated oiler.
According to the serial number 880105 this Bianchi Folgore dates back approximately to 1947-1948. The bicycle underwent a professional refurbishment to be brought back to its former glory. Not only the frame and fork received a new paintwork but also all parts have been meticulously re-chromed – when necessary – polished, oiled and adjusted.
Regarding the components, this Bianchi Folgore is equipped with original parts, such as a Campagnolo Cambio Corsa gearing system, Bianchi crankset, stem and bars, Universal brakes, Nisi rims and a Brooks B17 leather saddle. Simply the best of everything.
A vintage bicycle with history and pedigree. Terrifically beautiful.
