Description
Released in 1933, the Bianchi Saetta was a bicycle designed for serious competition, definitely a racing bicycle with pedigree.
Built with performance and quality in mind, the Saetta (the Italian for thunderbolt) was a lightweight lugged steel frame with particularly refined lugs, iconic Bianchi head-tube with integrated headset and a chain oiler at the seat tube. As any other Bianchi road bicycle, the original colour was the "celeste". The geometry is the typical of early 20th Century bicycles with a pretty long wheelbase, suitable to tackle even the most impervious unpaved roads which were the standard, back in the days.
The Saetta was produced until the Folgore model was subsequently released in 1939 and was available with different setup, according to rider's wishes.
This particular Bianchi Saetta (serial number 650899) has been professionally restored and illustrates the typical panache of vintage Bianchi bicycles at its best. The bicycle underwent a very meticulous restoration service in every single detail so that it perfectly shines in its former glory. The Bianchi crankset, wing nuts and the Ambrosio stem have been re-chromed and the original aluminium water bottle has been resprayed with the celeste colour.
Regarding the components, beside the above mentioned original Bianchi crankset and Ambrosio stem, this Saetta is equipped with wooden rims, Universal brakes and a Vittoria Margherita Giro di Francia gearing system, the very iconic rod-operated gearing from Nieddu brothers produced across 1937 and 1938.
Thoroughly checked in our workshop, this Bianchi Saetta is an authentic piece of cycling history. The perfect bicycle for connoisseurs.
