Description
The "Grail" of Bianchi collection, the Specialissima has been the pinnacle of the Italian brand ever since. Released in 1958, the Bianchi Specialissima was the evolution of the Campione del Mondo, the iconic model manufactured to celebrate Fausto Coppi World Championship victory in 1952.
With a 27.2mm seat tube, head-tube oiler and a Campagnolo Record Strada Gruppo, the Bianchi Specialissima was built by the Bianchi Reparto Corse – the Bianchi Racing Division – with competition in mind and the same model was subsequently used by the legendary Bianchi-Salvarani Team in the 1960s.
This particular Bianchi Specialissima – serial number 160167 – dates back to 1960 and illustrates the typical Bianchi panache of the very first Specialissima series ever. The cherry on the top is certainly the Campagnolo Record Strada Gruppo with a Gran Sport rear derailleur, Record High-Flange hubs, Record seat post, Record BB and shifters and – first of all – a very iconic Campagnolo Record Strada first generation crankset 151 BCD, Campagnolo's first pinless version.
Universal Extra 453949 brakes, Ambrosio stem and bars, Nisi rims, a Brooks Pro saddle, a Regina freewheel with Everest chain complete this exquisite, top-class set up.
An extremely rare Bianchi Specialissima. Celeste passion at its best.
