Description
The Bianchi Specialissima is undoubtedly one of the most iconic racing bicycles which the Milanese brand has ever produced. Unmistakably Bianchi for the famous "Celeste paintwork", the Specialissima has been developed in different versions which stick out for a unique manufacturing and attention to details. Just as the Bianchi Specialssima X3, a rare model released in the early 1980s and sold for a short time. The frameset was built with Columbus tubes and differed from other models for a few, refined details:
- aero shaped fork stays
- a sloped fork crown
- aero-shaped seat stays
- "V" shaped brake bridge
Our Specialissima is a bit of a mongrel in the way that it still has the earlier straight brake bridge making this bike a mixture of an earlier Superleggera and an X3 - consequently a Superleggera decal found its way on the left (!) side of the top tube.
The Specialissima X3 frameset design was later subsequently used as the base from which the Bianchi Centenario model was developed. The very typical fork and rear triangle were basically adopted from the X3.
This Bianchi Specialissima X3 arrived at Steel Vintage Bikes in what appears to be the original condition. Despite some signs of usage, the overall condition is excellent. The bicycle is fully equipped with a Campagnolo Super Record groupset including a set of clincher wheels.
Whether for collectors or Bianchi lovers, this Bianchi Specialissima X3 is a must-have. Suitable for all Eroica events worldwide.
