Description
Probably one of the finest and most beautiful steel racing bicycles ever produced, the Bianchi Specialissima X4 is a limited edition of the famous Bianchi Specialissima model. Bianchi produced the Specialissima X4 for six years between 1986 and 1991, as a development of the "Centenario 1985" model.
Also, instead of a plain black or celeste colour, the stays received the same darkened nickel treatment which the Centenario sported. This is a really rather rare feature. Moreno Argentin rode one bike with exactly these stays for the Team Gewiss-Bianchi when he was world champion in 1987.
The shifters are Centenario engraved whilst the crank arms received an X4 pantographing. it is almost as if this bike was a transition model on the way from the Centenario to the X4.
On the technical side, this Bianchi Specialissima is equipped with high-end Campagnolo C-Record parts with Cobalto brakes. The classic groupset that perfects this machine into an iconic 1980s top racer.
This exemplar perfectly illustrates the typical Bianchi galore and is in original condition. The frame is made of superb Columbus SLX tubes and shows an iconic blade-shaped fork and rear triangle.
Beside that, the main features of this Bianchi Specialissima X4 are:
- - the rounded style top eye joints
- - the Silva brake bridge with the pantographed writing "Bianchi" on both sides
- - the internally routed rear derailleur and brake cables
- - the engraved head tube
