Description

Bianchi is one of the oldest bicycle brands in the world, manufacturing high-quality performance bikes from as early as the 1890s. In 1885, when he was 21 years old, Edoardo Bianchi started manufacturing bikes in his shop in Milan, Italy. Edoardo had previous experience hand-making medical tools, so he had an acute understanding of how to manufacture precise instruments; a skill that translated into meticulously crafted bicycles.

During the golden age of cycling Bianchi sponsored Teams which rode to great victories on their celeste coloured bikes.

And here we presnt you a stunning example of such bicycle - Bianchi Tipo M Modello Giro d'Italia. Tipo M represents the very top of Edoardo's model line in the 1920s and 1930s. This particular Tipo M stem approximately from 1931 (serial number 260438) and it has been built with fine parts like Bianchi crank set, hubs or saddle and the famous "Giro Ruota" gearing - a flip flop hub with freewheel and fixed cog on either side. Customer could choose between wooden and steel rims back in 1930s and this example sports the latter mentioned, which are being squeezed by Bowden brakes. Modelo M was offered with Pirelli tires and on these steel rims is correctly mounted a pair of white Pirellis.

This bicycle arrived in our shop with a copy of the contract from 1931, suggesting that this very bike has been sold in Ivrea, half way between Milan and Turin.

This rare and terryfically beutiful bicycle with history will certainly enrich any classic collection.
