Description
Bottecchia is a very traditional company which started as the small cyclery of Carnielli and was improved in 1924 by Ottavio Bottecchia, the first Italian Tour de France winner (1924, 1925). A new company with a new name “Bottecchia” was born after the mysterious and tragic death of Ottavio Bottecchia in 1926.
The bicycles they produced were high end pieces which carried numerous champions to victory.
Many might still remember how Greg Lemond won his 1989 Tour de France on a Bottecchia Equipe.
Our Bottecchia Professional Chromed 50th anniversary bike from around 1984 is a rare and exquisit piece of their glorious 1980s era. It is built from light and strong Columbus SL tubing which was still the main material for professional road bikes back then. Instead of a paintjob, the frame underwent a polishing and full chroming. This makes the frame's surface shiny and very durable at the same time.
As for the parts there is a real cracker: Nothing less than the legendary and collectible Campagnolo 50th anniversary groupset has been installed! The serial number of this sought after edition with gold plated and specially engraved parts is 13302.
A bike that special is an adornment to any collection. And since it rides as great as it looks you can easily tackle weekend rides and historic bike rides with it.
