Description

In the early 1980s aerodynamics became a mainstream topic in cycling and all the bicycle manufacturers tried to jump on the train and develop aerodynamically improved machines and parts.
One of the interesting approaches from France were tubes designed by the company 'Maison Rouge' . They developed tubesets with teardrop shapes on the down tube and seat tube and specially butted sections.
One of these tubesets was the Camus Aero 7. It was aimed at the customer who wanted to go with the watt-saving trend without sacrificing all his savings. At the same time it allowed frame builders to use these advanced tubes with standard lugs.
Consequently they were hyped in France and brands like SMG, Gitane, France-Loire and Mercier all built some models based on these Camus-sets.

The Profil bike we are presenting here is one of them. But it takes the aero trend a step further. This model utilises Shimano's aerodynamically improved Shimano 600ax groupset.
Together with these shiny silver parts, the bike is just beautiful.
A fine example of the early 1980 wind-defying frenzy and an excellent ride on top.
