This Casati Laser '75 postmodern road racer is one of our projects in which we combine excellent classic steel frames with modern components.
Founded in 1920 in Monza, Italy, the Family Casati has served generations of cyclists with their craftsmanship their passion and their technical expertise.
Casati has always been known for custom made frames which have been produced with the greatest accuracy and attention to details.
Our frame here is no exception! The material it is made of is the lightweight and specially formed Columbus Genius Custom tubing. It is the big brother of The Nivachrome Genius tubing and has been produced to help frame builders to create solutions with fillet brazing and welding.
Consequently the tubes have been formed to a beautiful smooth frame by joining them with filled brazing. But it would not be a Casati if there was not at least one real kicker. Here it is certainly the patented seat post clamping which is fully integrated in the top tube!
The paintwork has been carried out by Carlo Dossena, one of the real masters of his art. He gave the frame its elegant pearly champagne appeal.
Since the Laser frame was somewhat special and ahead of its time, we found it the perfect match for an 'upgrade' with a modern groupset. So now it is equipped with a full Shimano Dura Ace 7900 groupset and spectacular Mavic Cosmic Carbone SL Wheels.
The bike weighs around 8 kilogram and rides like a dream. If you like classic steel frames but also fancy the comfort of modern components - here is your chance to make a unique pearl your own.
