Description

Located in Cuneo, Piedmont, C.B.T. Italia (Construction Bicycles Tardivo) was founded in the mid-1950’s by Giovanni Tardivo, a regional wholesaler and distributor for bicycle and motorcycle parts.
Towards the beginning of the 1970’s, Giovanni’s first son, Guido, joined C.B.T. Italia and expanded the company’s marketplace to include the production of road/racing bicycles and frames.

This C.B.T. Italia Bicycle is one of the earlier ones which were made by this brand. Yet it is already quite typical for the extraordinary way their frames were built. The frames are always a bit more attractive, a bit more exclusive and refined than the already elegant standard Italian road bike.

The tubing consists of Columbus SL tubes, the famous butted steel tubes. These tubes were the choice of most professional level Italian bikes from the 1960s to the 1980s.
But what makes the frame really special is the kind of paint it received. The frame has been first steel brushed and than nickel plated. Afterwards a classic design has been applied to the front by using oxblood red paint with golden outlines. This creates a style which reminds strongly of racing bikes from the 1940s.
The lugs (of which the headlugs are chromed) have been embellished with the company logo.
