Cinelli Proxima Classic Road Bike 1990s

Cinelli is one of the most iconic brands in cycling. In 1990s, it was particularly interesting time when traditional forms were changing, new materials came into use and manufacturers were seemingly not afraid of anything.

This Cinelli Proxima fits into this time slot perfectly. It was offered as a mid to high range model and in the 1990s, it was given a modern look with oversized and flattened down tube and strong paint schemes. This Proxima has the frame made of Columbus Thron tubes, which have been tig welded together.

It is equipped with proper Campagnolo Chorus and Athena parts from that era and so it has the comfortable and well functioning 8-speed Ergopower shifters. One exception is the beautiful Record seat post. What dominates this bike in terms of parts is the cockpit though. It is the Cinelli Integralter, which was quite forward-looking in times when races were still won with quill stems. It is rigid and quite comfortable with the large flat segments on the tops. It has the typical detail known from some Alter stems or Integralter cockpits - a pin up girl with Cinelli logo.
