Description
The Cinelli Riviera or Model C was the entry level lightweight frame of Cinelli. It was used for all kinds of purposes from city bikes to full racing bikes.
The exemplar we got here was built up as a sportsbike. Suitable for fast riding but definitely not made for competitive racing.
But what about Dornbusch?, we can almost hear you thinking. Well Dornbusch was a top class bicycle shop. It was located in Duisburg, in the industrial metropol region at the rivers Ruhr and Rhein in western Germany. The owner had an unfortunate fatal accident in a stayer race in the 1960s and the legendary shop eventually closed. His apprentice Claus Lauer then moved on to become one of the best artisan frame builders of Germany.
It tells a lot about the pride of a leading cycling shop and brand that Dornbusch would have had a Cinelli branded with his own name.
This bike is somewhat of a witness of both Italian and German cycling history. This history has left its traces on the frame and parts but if someone is talking of patina, this is what is meant. The bike is working pretty well and is suitable for rides of all kinds. A quality that does not fade if the surface is a little matured.
