When Ernesto released the Colnago C40 he started a revolution.
Before, carbon fiber has been seen as the future of cycling and there have been loads of experiments going on since the 1970s. But to that point no carbon fiber bike proved so safe and light at the same time, that it was suitable as a standard professional team bike. Well constructed enough to equally compete in the mountains and the classics of Flanders.
This Colnago C40 HP is the very last evolution of the C40 model. Still constructed of profiled carbon fiber tubes fitted together by well proportioned carbon fiber lugs, it clearly distinguish itself by the chainstays with a diamond cutout, a solution which resulted in better lateral rigidity while making the rear triangle more vertically compliant. The front fork is also made of carbon fiber by Colnago and with its straight blades it refers to the iconic Precisia forks from the 90s.
Our C40 is equipped with the best parts possible. When configurating your Campagnolo Record equipped bike in the first years of the new millennium you had two options by certain parts - aluminium or carbon fiber. These were the first attempts in Vicenza to use carbon fiber as a material for parts and they are now highly sought after for their elegance and rarity.
It's now clear that the carbon fibers are literally woven through the whole bike. The 3T MORE lightweight cockpit, Colnago seatpost, bottle cage and even the saddle are also made of this material. Fitted with Campagnolo Neutron wheels and Chris King headset it is also clear that this is a top notch bike without any compromises. It is furthermore in exceptional condition.
