Description

The Colnago Master model line is undoubtedly an evergreen of cycling history. First released in 1983, five different versions of the Colnago Master were manufactured until 1998 (the Master, Master Più, Master Olympic, Master Light and Master X-Light)

Thanks to these superb frames, the Italian brand achieved a peak of steel bike design, but at the same time, the Master series also represents the temporary end of the steel era in the bicycle industry.

The Master Olympic shares with its predecessors the famous diamond-profiled tubing, originally designed by Gilberto Colombo to make the frame stiffer and more reactive.
It was the master series on which Ernesto Colnago introduced the straight Precisa fork after some research suggested that these forks would be as stiff as classical raked ones while providing more comfort.

This model is a Colnago Master Olympic in a classic red paint scheme, constructed with strong Profilo S4 tubes. But what catches the eye is probably not just the star-shaped profile of the tubes. The seattube and the headtube have been prolonged by the top lugs thus creating a tall bike with a rather small thus stiff main triangle. This style of frame had been preferred by famous Swiss cycling champion Urs Freuler and consequently has been dubbed the 'Freuler Geometry'.

Components are, of course, top notch. So we can find an excellent Campagnolo Record groupset on this bike with the exception of the rear derailleur which is a medium cage Chorus that easily deals with the compact crankset.

A beautiful thoroughbred racing bicycle which will turn the toughest ride into a pleasure cruise.
