Colnago Mega Rapid Mapei Steel Road Bike 1990s

When many bicycle producers dropped steel out of their programs in the late 1990s in favour of aluminium and carbon fiber, Ernesto Colnago had a different opinion. He knew that steel with its specific characteristics had its rightful place in his model line. Some very advanced steel frames were built in his factory, like the Master X-Light, the Tecnos, the Crystal - and the lugless Colnago Mega Rapid.
Made from specifically shaped Columbus Genius tubes which were tig-welded, the Mega Rapid was meant to be the perfect lightweight frame for ambitious enthusiasts who rode their bikes not just in races but who also trained often and under harsh conditions.

Our Mega Rapid is one of those fine steel bikes. The frame has been covered with the colours of one of the most popular 1990s teams and is equipped with a beautiful 9-Speed groupset.
The team Mapei paint scheme and the Campagnolo parts lift this elaborated steel frame to the level of a seriously cool machine.
