Description

During the first half of the 1980s Colnago started to broaden his model line by producing a number of very interesting models. Some became famous for their scientific approach like the Oval CX or the carbon fiber studies. Others turned out to become solid winning racing bikes like the Nuovo Mexico and the early Master. And then there were bikes which were impressive because of their utterly beautiful classic design - just like our Colnago Mexico

Originally the Mexico models were designed to be a lighter sibling of the Super and were named after Eddy Merckx' hour Record.
Our bike is a bit more special than the classic Mexico's though. It comes from a time when the first Mexico's with profiled main tubes were already introduced. It shares with them the seat stay caps, the fork and the fully chromed, un-crimped rear stays. What is extraordinary are the chromed headlugs which were known from some other previous Models but are uncommon for Mexico bikes of this time. The slightly stronger than usual Columbus tubing finally makes clear that this bike a custom made version.

As for the parts we find what we would expect: A top class Campagnolo groupset. The Super Record parts have been chosen carefully. The brakes have been replaced by a lightened version with different brake bolt, the Seatpost is a pantographed aerodynamic one and the rims are Mavic clinchers.
This bike does not only look its part, it is suitable for great rides, too.

Why not discover the magic of L'Eroica on this fitting steed?
