Description
The Colnago Mexico Oro perfectly embodies Ernesto Colnago's vision: be creative and stay in media debate. And as it happened in 1979, he manufactured roughly 100 exemplars of a gold-plated version of the legendary Mexico frame and donated the frame number one to – nothing less – than Pope John Paul II. Since then, this bicycle has become an icon of the history of cycling and has appealed to avid collectors worldwide.
Known for its lightness, the Colnago Mexico Oro was built with Columbus 4/10 Record with thinner walls than the Columbus SL of the Super series. This particular Colnago Mexico Oro has been newly gold plated and is fitted with Campagnolo Super Record parts and some lightweight components, such as Gipiemme shifters, Modolo aero brake levers, Campagnolo Superleggeri Pista pedals, Colnago ergal headset and a Everest freewheel. With this setup, very typical for the Mexico Oro series, the bicycle weighs in at 8.76kg!
A monument of the glorious Colnago history. The perfect bicycle to complete any serious collection.
