Description
One of the most iconic bikes which left the famous factory in Cavenago (Milan, Italy), the first Colnago Mexico was produced to celebrate Eddy Merckx' 1972 world hour record. The Colnago Mexico was slightly different from the Colnago Super - built with even thinner Columbus tubes - but shared with that glorious bike the aggressive racing geometry: short, light and very stiff.
The next step in its evolution was the Colnago Nuovo Mexico first released in 1982 and immediately brought to victory by Giuseppe Saronni in the 1982 World Championships. It was built with profiled Columbus SL tubes which had distinctive crimps at the top and down tube.
This particular Colnago Nuovo Mexico dates back to 1983 and illustrates an iconic "Saronni red" paintwork in original condition. The Columbus SL frameset with distinctive crimps of the Nuovo Mexico series – two at the top tube and two at the down tube – is fully fitted with a Campagnolo 50th Anniversary groupset – Serial NUmber 1899 – from 1983 as well: an amaretto cherry on the top! 3ttt stems and bars, Ambrosio Colnago rims and a San Marco Concor Supercorsa saddle complete this superb setup: just the best of everything.
Fully inspected in our workshop. Ready to ride.
A bicycle for true connoisseurs and collectors. Suitable for Eroica events wordlwide.
