Description
One of the most iconic bikes which left the famous factory in Cavenago (Milan, Italy), the first Colnago Mexico was produced to celebrate the 1972 Eddy Merckx world hour record. The Colnago Mexico was slightly different from the Colnago Super - built with even thinner Columbus tubes - but shared with that glorious bike the aggressive racing geometry: short, light and very stiff! The next step in its evolution became the Colnago Nuovo Mexico first released in 1982 and immediately brought to the victory by Giuseppe Saronni in the 1982 World Chmapionship. It was built with profiled Columbus SL tubes which had distinctive crimps on the sides of the top and down tube.
This Colnago Nuovo Mexico dates back to 1982 and illustrates a typical "Saronni red" paintwork, the same colour of Giuseppe Saronni bike at the 1982 World Championship. The bike arrived at Steel Vintage Bikes in original condition and underwent a complete check in our workshop. This means that all components have been checked and worn parts – such as cables, tires, chain and bar tape – have been replaced.
Regarding the components, this Colnago Nuovo Mexico is fully equipped with an original Campagnolo Super Record groupset. Amaretto cherry on the top: the Colnago pantographed parts!
A vintage bicycle with racing pedigree and heritage. Suitable for Eroica events worldwide.
