Description
One of the most iconic bikes which left the famous factory in Cavenago (Milan, Italy), the first Colnago Mexico was produced to celebrate Eddy Merckx' 1972 world hour record. The Colnago Mexico was slightly different from the Colnago Super - built with even thinner Columbus tubes - but shared with that glorious bike the aggressive racing geometry: short, light and very stiff!
The next step in its evolution became the Colnago Nuovo Mexico first released in 1982 and immediately brought to victory by Giuseppe Saronni in the 1982 World Championships. It was built with profiled Columbus SL tubes which had distinctive crimps on the sides of the top and down tube.
This Colnago Nuovo Mexico dates back to 1982 and wears a grid pattern paintjob which has just been freshly refurbished by one of Italians finest varnishing workshops. The bike has been rebuilt while fully checking on all parts, cleaning, regreasing and adjusting. Many parts such as saddle, bar tape, tires, chain etc. have been replaced.
Regarding the components, this Colnago Nuovo Mexico is fully equipped with a top of the line Campagnolo Super Record groupset!
A vintage bicycle which was one of the best of its time. Suitable for Eroica events worldwide.
