Description
Like many other companies, Colnago tried to set new trends concerning the material for their frames. They were among the first to experiment with carbon fiber and titanium frames in the 1980s. They famously constructed the Bititan, which had two downtubes, followed by the 'regular' Titanio or 'Monotitan'. Then in the late 1990s they changed the structure of the top and downtube completely, thus creating the Colnago OvalTitan Titanio Road Bike.
Our exemplar is one of those bikes. The frame got the typical impressive 'Decor' airbrush-style paintjob for which Colnago was already famous then. The appearance of the frame is clearly defined by oversized down and top tubes with a very pronounced oval cross sections. As for the fork, this model is equipped with Colnago carbon fork made by the french specialist Time.
Colnago Ovaltitan was certainly a performance oriented bike with an enhanced comfort level for long days in the saddle. These qualities are underlined by a high level Campagnolo Chorus groupset with 9-speed shifting operated from the bars.
One of the best bikes available at its time and still an awesome ride!
