Colnago Super Athena Arlecchino Bicycle 1988

Few bicycles have influenced the sports cycling scene as much as the Colnago Super. At a time when racing bicycles were averagely heavy with long wheelbases and flat angles, Ernesto Colnago released a bicycle which would become a legend of cycling history and one of the top models of his 1970s and 1980s catalogues - the Super.

Made of Columbus SL steel tubes, with a shorter, stiffer and lighter frame, the Colnago Super was designed for high-performance.
Since its launch, uncountable racing bicycles have been built with a geometry inspired by the Super.

This Colnago Super Athena "Arlecchino" stems from the late 1980s. It shows some of the fine engraved logos, for which Colnago became famous.
The frame has its original paint and decals, sporting a rare and fancy 'harlekin' decor.
The bike is equipped with one of the newest groupsets Campagnolo had to offer back then. Campagnolo occasionally teamed up with famous bike brands like Bianchi or Colnago to market their new components. Frames were equipped with the new gruppos and received their name.
Consequently our bike is called the 'Athena' for its Campagnolo Athena>groupset.
The classic combination of the Super with Campagnolo components is vastly sought after for its appeal as well as its riding characteristics.

This Colnago Athena is a great choice for vintage bike lovers. And since you do not find this specific model very often, the Athena is also interesting for collectors.
