Description
Few bicycles have influenced the sports cycling scene as much as the Colnago Super. At a time when racing bicycles were averagely heavy with long wheelbases and flat angles, Ernesto Colnago released a frameset which would become a legend of cycling history and one of the top models of his 1970s and 1980s catalogues - the Super.
Made of Columbus SL steel tubes, with a shorter, stiffer and lighter frame, the Colnago Super was designed for high-performance. Since the launch, uncountable racing bicycles have been built with a geometry inspired by the Super.
This particular Colnago Super dates back to the 1980s and let's cut to the chase it's simply stunning. It's so opulent it's quite hard to pick something to start with. And as you can see, the overwhelming theme here is nothing less than gold.
The Columbus tubes are being connected with lugs, which have been gold plated. That same treatment underwent also the fork. And we can continue with the parts. The full and excessively pantographed Campagnolo Super Record gruppo, the top racing level equipment, just shines and glitters under the sun. And we not talking just about few parts or details, literally the whole groupset including the quick releases and selected bolts has been gold plated.
This magnificent machine is then completed with the finest parts like the Colnago branded suede leather saddle, ITM stem (gold plated, off course), Lightweight Cinelli pedal cages and Mavic Record Du Monde De L'Heure golden rims.
It's also fully checked and serviced in our workshop. Mouthwatering this bike is, it's still a very good ride and if you would fancy a very glamorous set of wheels, it's perfectly capable of any trip or even classic cycling event.
