Description

It is not easy to find a road bike that has influenced the Italian cycling industry as much as the Colnago Super. At a time when racing bicycles were comparably heavy, with long wheelbases and flat angles, Ernesto Colnago released a bicycle which would become a legend of cycling history and the top model of his successful 1970s production - the Super.

Made of Columbus SL steel tubes - with a shorter, stiffer and lighter frame - the Colnago Super was designed for high-performance. Since its launch, numerous racing bicycles have been built with a geometry inspired by the Super.

Our Colnago dates back to 1968 and is de facto one of the first Colnago bikes which were called a Super.
Before these bikes there were the chunkier 'Freccia' models and the more slender 'Roma' bikes. Then, in 1968, our Super was introduced, equipped with the then new Campagnolo Nuovo Record groupset, and it instantly made history.
The specific style in which our bike was made has only been used for a span of not even two years between 1968 and 1970. Then, in 1970, small changes were introduced to the Super.

As for the frameset, it was repainted and refinished in a classic orange with yellow decals, a style reminiscent of the early 1970s.

As for the components, the superb 1st generation Campagnolo Nuovo Record parts from 1968 have been fully serviced in our workshop in Berlin. Especially the rare rear derailleur is a real treat.
Since Colnago did not make their own brakes before 1969, it is logically consistent that this Super is equipped with excellent Universal brakes.

This Colnago Super is in a good condition and ready.

The right choice for all Colnago collectors and of course suitable for Eroica events!
